Homecoming Weekend!
This Sunday is Homecoming Sunday at Glenwood Presbyterian. One thing that means is seeing lots of faces of folks who have moved away but come back for homecoming whenever they can. Another thing it means is good food. We have a covered-dish luncheon after the worship service that I would put up against any church anywhere. It makes me hungry just thinking about it.

“Covered-dish” is a french word meaning “Glenwood Presbyterian Church.” The sight of that vast spread of delicious food, in quantities that exceed even our impressive appetites (even Pastor Charles couldn’t put a real dent in the affair) is testament to how God has truly blessed us as a church, and as a Christian nation. Thanks to every one of the chefs — as well as the servers who worked in the kitchen and elsewhere while the benefactors (me) gorged ourselves — for making the homecoming lunch such a success. Here is a poll for anyone who cares to cast a vote: Which was more indescribably delicious? the food line, or the dessert bar?

Kevin, how do you pronounce that French word meaning “Glenwood Presbyterian Church”? Is it like “co-verred deesh”? I’d like to know, in case I ever want to impress someone by using it in conversation.
In answer to your poll question: Usually, the dessert bar is more indescribably delicious. However, being mindful of my diet, I was uncharacteristically strong-willed and managed to resist its allure.
