I’ve never enjoyed a homecoming message as much as this one! Pastor Charles generates such a sense of pride in the Glenwood community (its history in particular) that I was tempted to rise with the others and proclaim that I too had been raised in Glenwood. But alas, I grew up on Vanstory Street (”Hillsdale” — a short distance away). But my dad’s drugstore was just up the street at the corner of Glenwood and Grove, and I spent enough time there as a young boy to now proclaim “I am a Glenwood-er” (John Kennedy would have said that in German, and it would be much more impressive that way, but you get the idea). Pastor Charles’ anecdotes of growing up on Gregory Street are so poignant that I almost wish I could wake up one morning and find snow on my bed covers … and yet I draw the line at the pig in the backyard. Message to Sam Beasley: Do you have any particular recollections of us hanging out at the drug store as kids, or must I jog your memory: TANGY TAFFEY.
