The Time, It Is A-Changing!
With apologies to Bob Dylan for the title of this post, I have some exciting news to share. Our SHINE service, started in May of 2007, has been held at 7:00 pm on Sunday nights. In a move designed to generate higher attendance and greater interest among other things, the Session voted Sunday night to move SHINE to Sunday mornings at 9:30 am!
Beginning MARCH 1ST, 2009, SHINE will begin at 9:30 on Sunday morning and run until roughly 10:30. From 10:30 until 11:00, there will be an opportunity for fellowship with coffee and other treats. Then, at 11:00, our traditional service will still be held. Our adult Sunday School will be suspended for now, and our children and youth will have their programs during the traditional service. During SHINE, we will welcome the young people to stay in worship with us.
I will be leading the SHINE service and we are close to securing a supply preacher to handle the traditional service. There are lots of details still to be worked out “in committee” but I believe that this change has a multitude of advantages that I will share in a later post.
Keep a lookout in this space later this week as I share some more of the details of this change, including a preview of the monumental series that will be kicking off SHINE in its new time slot.
