SHINE News!
As you know, SHINE moves to 9:30 on Sunday mornings beginning March 1st. There has been some mystery about exactly how everything was going to operate which I would like to say was designed to build anticipation, but the truth is that we haven’t shared the details because they hadn’t been decided on yet. But now we think we have a good idea of how our new Sunday schedule is going to look.
SHINE will start at 9:30 a.m. The format will be much like the current one, except that there will be more music and it will all be at the beginning of the service usually. There will not be any children’s or youth classes held during SHINE – they are welcome to join us in the worship service. There will be a nursery provided for all children who haven’t started kindergarten yet.
From about 10:30 until 11:00, there will be a fellowship time with free coffee and snacks in the Fellowship hall.
At 11:00, our traditional service will be held in the sanctuary. After the children’s sermon, our high schoolers all the way down to our 3 year olds will leave the service and go to their Sunday School classes, which will end when the worship service ends. A nursery will be provided during the entire service for infants age 0-2. The only change to our traditional service will be that the choir’s anthem will be moved to earlier in the service because many of the choir also teach Sunday School.
Moving SHINE to the morning will mean that we will no longer have a worship service scheduled for Sunday nights. We will still have choir practice and youth groups meeting early Sunday evenings at 5 pm.
We will be starting a 12 week series in SHINE on March 1st called “Downpour.” This series is written by Pastor James MacDonald and is a call to revival in the church. I will be leading this series and I am planning on providing the study materials that go with this series during each week to hopefully make it a more in-depth experience in God’s Word for you.
