DP Study Materials

Starting March 9th, I will start posting study materials that go along with our new SHINE series. The plan is to post the recording of Sunday’s message along with some review questions. Then on Monday through Friday, I will post a PDF file that contains that day’s material. I hope that these items will be a blessing to you.

In order to open the PDF file on your computer, you are going to need to download the free Adobe Acrobat reader if you don’t already have it. To get the free reader, click the button below.

To test your ability to read a PDF file, I am including one in this post. Click below to open it or download it.

Join Us For SHINE! this Sunday Night

At SHINE! this Sunday, we continue with week #3 of our Fear series with a message discussing “Fear of Intimacy.” Intimacy is a word that has been pigeonholed into romantic relationships, but we will talk about intimacy in terms of all of our close relationships, romantic and otherwise. You also don’t want to miss a story about a mouse that you must hear! And of course, Christian Endeavor will lead our praise and worship time with some great music.

I know I promised details about SHINE when it moves to its new format. They are on the way…keep checking this space!

The Time, It Is A-Changing!

With apologies to Bob Dylan for the title of this post, I have some exciting news to share. Our SHINE service, started in May of 2007, has been held at 7:00 pm on Sunday nights. In a move designed to generate higher attendance and greater interest among other things, the Session voted Sunday night to move SHINE to Sunday mornings at 9:30 am!

Beginning MARCH 1ST, 2009, SHINE will begin at 9:30 on Sunday morning and run until roughly 10:30. From 10:30 until 11:00, there will be an opportunity for fellowship with coffee and other treats. Then, at 11:00, our traditional service will still be held. Our adult Sunday School will be suspended for now, and our children and youth will have their programs during the traditional service. During SHINE, we will welcome the young people to stay in worship with us.

I will be leading the SHINE service and we are close to securing a supply preacher to handle the traditional service. There are lots of details still to be worked out “in committee” but I believe that this change has a multitude of advantages that I will share in a later post.

Keep a lookout in this space later this week as I share some more of the details of this change, including a preview of the monumental series that will be kicking off SHINE in its new time slot.

How To Be In The Band

I’m in a trial this week, so very busy, and we didn’t have any blank CDs Sunday to record Pastor Charles’ sermon to post, so I’ll quickly post the following video… Enjoy!
